Katherine Patiño Miranda is a Brooklyn-based artist and art educator from Cali, Colombia, born in 1983. She works in diverse media including performances, constructed situations, installations, drawings and paintings. She holds a bachelor in K-12 art education from Hunter College CUNY, a K-12 NYC DOE visual arts teaching license, a Master of Fine Arts from Zürich University of the Arts in Switzerland, as well as a training in the Reggio Emilia Approach from Bank Street College NYC and a Montessori Pedagogy Immersion at Kinderhaus Montessori in Zürich Switzerland. She has worked as an art teacher for the past 7 years in different working in different schools and also doing independent pedagogical projects. One of her main interests is how to generate non-hierarchical art spaces and situations, where children can lead their own artistic processes and become aware of their environmental and social footprint.
Carolina Duplat is a Colombian born, Brooklyn-based interior designer and feng-shui consultant. She graduated from the Art Institute Miami and is currently studying sustainable design at FIT in New York. For the past 10 years, she has worked as a set designer for television and commercials. While working for Nickelodeon she developed a passion for teaching young children. In her teaching practice, she mixes sustainable design methodologies with the Reggio Emilia approach, considering the classroom a holistic space for education. She uses her knowledge of discarded materials, composting, mixed media, oil, and acrylic paint, to generate unconventional learning situations, raising awareness of recycling, up-cycling and sustainability.
