Art & Ecology Summer Adventures

Join us this summer for an exciting Art & Ecology Adventures at Grover Cleveland Playground in Ridgewood, Queens , where nature and creativity collide! Our program is designed for young artists ages 3-9, inviting them to explore the beauty and biodiversity of the park while engaging in hands-on art adventures. Each week, we’ll embark on creative excursions into nature, uncovering the wonders of the park and using it as a source of inspiration for artistic projects that celebrate both ecology and imagination.

Kids will enjoy a Nature Scavenger Hunt to discover hidden treasures like leaves and animal tracks, create Eco-Paintings with mineral and botanical dyes from the park, and explore tree identification through sketches. We'll observe wildlife like sparrows and squirrels, bringing them to life through artistic storytelling and clay. Plus, children will express the biodiversity of the park through dance notation and movement, connecting with nature through rhythm and fun!

Each week, young artists will forage for materials from the park and engage in community-minded projects. Our activities are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Themes integrate open play, technical skills, and plenty of fun! As we explore the park's ecosystems, children will have the opportunity to express their findings through a variety of artistic mediums: drawing, painting, sculpting, movement, and storytelling.

Why Choose Creative Nature NYC?

At Creative Nature NYC, we view children as natural researchers and inventors. Our curriculum is designed to co-create with the children, drawing from their questions, interests, and imaginative ideas. We focus on blending art, science, and ecology, allowing children to explore and experiment while cultivating critical thinking. Through the exploration of nature and recycled materials, children will ask important questions about their relationship with the world and how we can protect it.

Our teachers, with backgrounds in visual arts and ecology, are passionate about guiding young artists in exploring the interconnections between nature and creativity. We encourage expression through the "hundred languages" children use—drawing, sculpting, painting, movement, rhythm, and words.

Let's Ask Big Questions:

How can art help us understand ecology? How do we bridge the gap between humans and the natural world? At Creative Nature NYC, we believe that by experiencing the beauty and wonder of nature, children will develop a deep sense of responsibility for its preservation.

Join us this summer for a transformative, artistic exploration of Grover Cleveland Playground’s biodiversity, and watch your child grow into a curious, eco-conscious creator!
