FAQ
Why is Creative Nature NYC the best fit for me?
Getting to know your art adventure
Where do your programs take place?
Our programs take place in NYC parks and nearby indoor community spaces, depending on the season and the program. Most of our camps and Living Labs are outdoor-centered, using parks as living classrooms, with access to shade, rest areas, and nearby facilities.
Are your programs always outdoors?
Mostly—yes. Creative Nature NYC is an outdoor-centered program, and we spend as much time outside as possible in a wide range of weather conditions. We believe children benefit from experiencing nature as it is—not just on perfect days.
What is your child-to-educator ratio?
We keep groups small so children are well supported. Our maximum ratio is 1 educator for every 6 children. This allows educators to listen closely, support social dynamics, and respond thoughtfully to each child.

What happens in case of rain or extreme weather?
We closely monitor weather conditions to ensure a safe and comfortable environment. In case of heavy rain, extreme heat, or unsafe conditions, we may: Spend more time in sheltered or indoor community spaces and adjust activities to fit the conditions (movement, observation, quieter making)
Shift drop-off and pick-up locations if needed
Families will receive a clear update the night before with the plan for the day.
How do you support different ages and developmental stages?
At the beginning of each week, children are loosely grouped by age (3–4, 5–6, and 7–9) with a consistent educator to support safety, accountability, and age-appropriate needs—especially for fine and gross motor skills.
For certain activities that require specific skills, we may work in age-based groups. However, this structure is flexible. Children are always welcome to collaborate across ages and choose where they feel most comfortable.
Where is the daily meeting point at the park?
We meet each morning by the benches in front of the sprinkler area, near the park bathrooms. A photo and clear directions will be shared with families before the program begins.
What age range are your programs designed for?
Our programs are for children ages 3–9.We work in mixed-age groups, which encourages empathy, leadership, collaboration, and confidence. Older children often mentor younger ones, while younger children bring curiosity and fresh perspectives—an important part of our Living Lab approach.
